First tread cutter specifically for MTB tires
Sharp cuts for fine tuning: Schwalbe presented the first tread cutter for MTB tires at the start of the MTB World Cup in Lourdes, France, from April 7th to 10th. The pliers with an exact adjustment function for the profile height enable precise shortening of the tire lugs.
“Although we have a suitable profile for almost every application, sometimes the ground conditions are not entirely clear,” says Michael Kull, Schwalbe Marketing and Race Support. “With the Tread Cutter, drivers can adapt the tire profile even more optimally to the respective situation.” For example, on the Dirty Dan mud tire, the massive lugs in the middle can be shortened for easier rolling. Or, as with Hans Dampf, cut back the studs in the shoulder area so that there is more space and the profile becomes more aggressive. Studs that have been driven “round” will have a straight edge again. Kull: “The Tread Cutter is the first profile cutter that was specifically developed for MTB tires. It allows studs to be cut precisely, with a smooth edge and – thanks to the cutting height adjustment – at the desired height.”
